Cirebon Regency Government in West Java is prioritising the repair of 16 road sections in the area that function as alternative routes to support the smooth flow of traffic during the Lebaran exodus and return.

Head of the Public Works and Spatial Planning Service (DPUTR) of Cirebon Regency, Sunanto, in Cirebon on Thursday, said routine maintenance work on the regency’s road sections is scheduled to begin next week.

‘We target the work to be completed before H-7 of Idul Fitri, so that it can be traversed,’ he said.

He explained that maintenance would be carried out on all regency roads with priority given to points likely to experience increased vehicle volumes during the Lebaran 2026 period.

He cited examples of the alternative routes to be repaired located in the eastern area of Cirebon, such as the Kanci-Sindanglaut, Pabuaran, Ciawigajah, Gebangilir-Waled, and Jatiseeng-Pabuaran routes.

‘The Cirebon Regency is one of the main transit areas for travellers during Idul Fitri, so the condition of road infrastructure must be ensured to be in a sound state,’ he said.

Meanwhile, Deputy Regent Agus Kurniawan Budiman said that the total length of roads in Cirebon Regency is about 1,240 kilometres, so the handling will be carried out gradually in accordance with the regional budget capabilities.
