Dinas Perhubungan Kabupaten Cirebon is preparing facilities and equipment to ensure smooth flow of mudik traffic for Eid al-Fitr 2026. The head of the Development and Safety Division of the Cirebon Regency Department of Transportation, Dani Irawadi, explained that to support smooth traffic, the agency is deploying various equipment: 22 advance directional signs (RPPJ), 100 water barriers, 200 traffic cones, and three units of street lighting vehicles (PJU). He noted that they are also preparing directional signs to Central Java and Kuningan Regency to prevent mudik travellers from getting lost or taking the wrong direction. Irawadi added that for Eid 2026 security, they plan to set up 10 security posts on main route points. ‘Each post will be divided into two shifts with a total of 62 personnel.’ The security posts are located at: Pos Pam Perbatasan Losari–Brebes, Pos Perbatasan Susukan Bunder, GT Tol Command Center 118 Cipali, Pos Traffic Light Perempatan Palimanan, Pos Ramayana Weru, Pos Traffic Light Plered, Pos Pertigaan Pilang Kedawung, Pos Jalan Baru Ciperna, Pos PAM Rest Area 207, and Pos Pam Pasar Cipeujeuh. Based on national projections, the number of people moving during Lebaran 2026 is expected to reach 143.91 million, slightly down from about 150 million last year. Nationally, the largest destination for travellers is expected to be Central Java with 38.71 million people, followed by East Java 27.29 million and West Java 25.09 million. This situation is expected to impact traffic volumes in the Cirebon area as a strategic transit region.
