Cirebon Police Confirm 'Pocong Terror' Rumour is a Hoax
Cirebon (ANTARA) - The Cirebon City Police (Polresta Cirebon) in West Java has confirmed that reports of a ‘pocong terror’ circulating on social media and causing local concern are a hoax. Cirebon Police Commissioner Imara Utama, speaking in Cirebon on Tuesday, said that to date, his office has not received any reports nor found any cases related to the issue in the area. Police have also conducted checks and found no evidence of a ‘pocong terror’ as widely discussed on social media. “We urge residents to remain calm and not easily believe information without clear sources or verification,” he said. Imara stressed the need for the public to be more discerning about viral posts to avoid spreading false information that could incite public unrest. “The spread of false information on social media can cause panic if not promptly corrected,” he added. Therefore, Polresta Cirebon continues to urge the public to verify information before believing or sharing it with others. “We confirm that security in Cirebon City remains stable and residents are advised not to be provoked by unverified claims,” he said.
