Cirebon North Coast Route Sees 577,000 Vehicles Pass Through Up to One Day Before Eid
Cirebon (ANTARA) - The Cirebon City Transportation Agency in West Java recorded a vehicle volume of 577,215 units passing through the North Coast Route (Pantura) in the area during the period from H-7 to H-1 before Eid 2026.
The Head of the Traffic Division of the Cirebon City Transportation Agency, Indra Setiaman, in Cirebon on Friday, stated that this figure is the result of traffic monitoring up to 11.30 Western Indonesia Time on H-1 before Eid.
He explained that of the total vehicles, the majority were dominated by motorcycles at 503,445 units, while private cars were recorded at 52,643 units.
“The number of vehicles passing from H-7 to H-1 before Eid is around 577,215 units, based on calculations up to 11.30 Western Indonesia Time,” said Indra.
According to him, the current average vehicle flow on the Cirebon North Coast Route is around 1,284 units per hour.
Indra noted that the peak of the homecoming traffic on that route occurred on H-2 before Eid, with nearly 149,000 vehicles passing through in a single day.
He said that compared to the same period during the 2025 Eid homecoming, the number of vehicles at this year’s peak has seen a slight decrease.
“If compared to 2025, there is a slight decrease, but compared to the previous day, there was an increase of around 12 percent,” he stated.
His side implemented several traffic engineering measures at several major intersections in Cirebon City to anticipate traffic density during the peak homecoming period.
He mentioned one of the steps applied, namely extending the duration of traffic lights at several intersections traversed by homecoming vehicles.
He explained that the green light duration at those intersections was extended to around 95 seconds, allowing vehicles from the main route to pass more smoothly.
“We extended the green light duration at intersections so that vehicles passing through the homecoming route can move faster,” he said.
Indra added that during the 2026 Eid homecoming season, the Cirebon City Transportation Agency did not close intersections along the homecoming route in the area.
He stated that this policy was taken because traffic engineering through adjusting light durations was deemed sufficiently effective in easing vehicle congestion.
“With that step, vehicle flow from Jakarta towards Central Java and vice versa can pass safely without disrupting community activities,” he said.
