Cirebon Government Optimises 112 Emergency Service During Dry Season

The Cirebon City Government in West Java is optimising the Cirebon Siaga 112 emergency service to speed up the handling of land fires and other potential disasters during the 2026 dry season.

Deputy Mayor of Cirebon Siti Farida Rosmawati said on Wednesday that residents are urged to use the service if they spot any fire hotspots or indications of a blaze, so that officers can respond immediately.

According to her, faster reporting is a crucial step in preventing fires from spreading, especially in areas prone to drought such as Argasunya sub-district.

“If you see a potential fire or other disaster, report it immediately to the government through the Cirebon Siaga 112 service so it can be dealt with quickly,” she said.

Farida said she had inspected the Argasunya area in the southern part of Cirebon City to assess the impact of the dry season.

During the inspection, she found several plots of land with dried-out grass, some of which had already caught fire due to the hot weather.

She said the Cirebon City Government has declared a state of emergency for drought and land fire disasters from 1 July to 30 September 2026, as a precautionary measure ahead of the dry season.

According to her, the success of land fire management depends not only on the readiness of officers but also on public participation in reporting incidents quickly.

“Some land is already visibly burnt. Let us work together to protect the environment so that similar incidents do not keep recurring,” she said.

Farida urged residents not to burn rubbish carelessly, as such actions can trigger fires amid dry land conditions.

She also asked residents to ensure that any unavoidable burning is completely extinguished, and not to discard cigarette butts carelessly.

“Although weather factors cannot be controlled, there are still many efforts that residents can make to prevent fires, one of which is not burning rubbish carelessly,” she said.
