Cirebon Farmers Begin Implementing PM-AAS Rice Planting System

The Ministry of Agriculture has introduced the Modern-Advanced Agricultural System (PM-AAS) as an innovation in rice cultivation expected to increase agricultural productivity. This method involves direct seeding with dense and regular rows, which is targeted to produce harvests of up to 10 tonnes of grain per hectare, while simultaneously improving the efficiency of seed and labour usage.

Farmers in Susukan, Cirebon Regency, West Java, have begun implementing the PM-AAS system during the sowing process. The Ministry of Agriculture aims for the implementation of PM-AAS to be able to increase rice productivity to 10 tonnes per hectare, which is higher than the average yields in several other regions. In addition to increasing harvests, the implementation of PM-AAS is expected to support the modernisation of the agricultural sector, increase cultivation efficiency, and strengthen national food security.
