Cirebon District Prosecutor's Office Designates Three Suspects in BPR Bank Cirebon Credit Case
Cirebon (ANTARA) - The Cirebon District Prosecutor’s Office (Kejari) in West Java has designated three individuals as suspects in the alleged case of irregularities in credit disbursement at Perumda BPR Bank Cirebon, following a series of further investigation and inquiry processes. The Head of the Intelligence Section of the Cirebon District Prosecutor’s Office, Roy Andhika Stevanus Sembiring, in Cirebon on Monday, stated that the three suspects initially held the status of witnesses before their legal status was elevated to suspects. He explained that the status upgrade was carried out after investigators discovered sufficient evidence and fulfilled the elements of the suspected criminal offence being handled in the case. “Today, we have elevated the status of three witnesses to suspects in the case of alleged irregularities in credit disbursement at Perumda BPR Bank Cirebon,” he said. He conveyed that the three suspects, with initials DG, AS, and ZM, hold different roles within the structure of the regional-owned bank. Roy mentioned that the suspects are alleged to be involved in deviations in granting credit that do not comply with the provisions and procedures within Perumda BPR Bank Cirebon. “The deviations that occurred include the granting of consumer and working capital credit to 17 employees,” he stated. He noted that the deviant practices took place over a considerable period, namely from 2017 to 2024, thus impacting the financial condition of the institution. As a result of the suspects’ actions, he continued, the state has suffered substantial financial losses based on the results of audits and official calculations from the relevant authorities. “The three suspects have been detained for 20 days at the Class I Cirebon Detention Centre, and the investigation will continue to be developed,” he said.
