Cirebon City Police Intensifies Patrols in Vulnerable Areas During Ramadan
The Cirebon City Police are intensifying patrols in several vulnerable areas during this Ramadan. The Chief of Cirebon City Police, AKBP Eko Iskandar, explained that patrols are carried out routinely every day with a preventive and educational approach.
“Patrols continue to be carried out during vulnerable hours, such as when people are looking for Iftar (breaking the fast) meals or after Sahur,” said Eko on Wednesday (February 24).
Patrols are also being carried out intensively in several vulnerable areas within the jurisdiction of the Cirebon City Police. However, patrols are carried out while still prioritizing prevention and community outreach.
Eko explained that during this Ramadan, many teenagers often gather after Sahur.
“This is what we are paying attention to. Without supervision, this activity has the potential to develop into brawls or illegal racing, which can disturb residents,” said Eko.
In addition to the potential for youth disturbances, Eko added that they are also vigilant about theft and aggravated assault, where the methods of operation often change.
“If one area is patrolled, the perpetrators may move to another area. But, we still maximize supervision,” said Eko.
Even though faced with personnel limitations, Eko said that patrols are still focused on vulnerable areas.
“However, we also ask for the active role of residents in maintaining their own environment,” Eko hoped.
The public is also asked to play an active role through strengthening neighborhood security systems.
Meanwhile, parents are also asked to more closely supervise their children’s activities at night until early morning so that Ramadan remains safe, comfortable, and conducive in the city of Cirebon. (UL)
