Starting this week, the Cirebon City Government (Pemkot Cirebon) will implement a work-from-home (WFH) scheme. Assistant for General Administration at the Cirebon City Regional Secretariat, M. Arief Kurniawan, explained that Pemkot Cirebon had already developed and refined preparations for WFH before the central government officially announced the policy. “This includes considering several options for the implementation days,” said Arief on Sunday (5/4). Wednesday was initially considered to avoid the impression of a long weekend if WFH were applied at the beginning or end of the week. However, this option was deemed potentially disruptive to the work rhythm of civil servants (ASN), who typically intensify activities from the start of the week. “After consideration, Friday was judged to be the most ideal, and that decision has been agreed upon,” said Arief. For work units that provide direct services to the public, they will continue to carry out official duties at the office/work from office (WFO), while support units can implement WFH selectively, ensuring that performance and the quality of public services do not decline. On the same occasion, Arief added that Pemkot Cirebon is also encouraging ASN who continue to work at the office to use public transportation or cycle, particularly every Thursday. “This step is expected to reduce the use of fuel oil while building a more environmentally conscious work culture,” said Arief. Meanwhile, high-ranking officials at the pratama level as well as echelon II and III are still required to work from the office. To ensure the policy runs optimally, according to Arief, Pemkot is also designing a supervision and performance evaluation system for ASN during WFH. One of the mechanisms being prepared is daily work reporting based on an application equipped with geotagging features to verify employee locations.
