Ciracas Homeowner Alarmed as Stray Bullet Falls Near Child
A stray bullet entered Hamidah’s home in Gang Nangka, Kelapa Dua Wetan, Ciracas, on Wednesday, 20 May, at around 09:50 WIB. She described hearing a noise like a small explosion or firecracker and only later realising there was a bullet. She looked up and saw a hole in the ceiling, which appeared after several minutes. At the time, Hamidah was relaxing with her child in the living room, seated on a sofa while the child slept on the floor. The bullet hole was directly above the child’s head and the bullet fell to the right of the child’s leg, narrowly missing the head. The child became frightened and hugged his mother. She alerted her husband and the RT head, and police from Ciracas Police Station, accompanied by the RT leader, arrived and retrieved the bullet. Earlier, Ciracas Police Chief Kompol Rohmad said there were no casualties or injuries, only that the asbestos ceiling was perforated. Police have checked the scene and are continuing to investigate, including the origin of the bullet; the weapon type has not yet been determined.
