Ciputra to build 'superior school'
Ciputra to build 'superior school'
SURABAYA, East Java: The Ciputra Foundation, established by
business tycoon Ciputra, will soon build "superior schools" in
the CitraRaya housing complex here.
The schools, which will range from kindergarten to senior high
school, will open next year. Each class will admit a smaller
number of students and will apply teaching methods designed to
stimulate initiative and curiosity.
The schools, according to a foundation press release, will
emphasize foreign languages. Kindergartners and elementary school
children up to third grade will be taught Indonesian as well as
English, the two "official" languages of the school.
From the fourth grade up, the students will be able to choose
one of the two Asian languages offered: Japanese and Chinese.
Junior high school students will be allowed to add one European
language, either German, French or Dutch.
A 4.5-hectare plot of land has been reserved for the project.
