Ciputra speaks on marketing

JAKARTA (JP): Noted business tycoon Ciputra has asked the government to support businesses of Indonesian origin oveseas in a bid to help the marketing of the country's products on the international market.

During a speech at a University of Tarumanegara graduation ceremony on Saturday, Ciputra said that strengthening the business networks of Indonesian people living overseas could prove to be more effective than other marketing strategies in promoting the country's export products.

Ciputra, one of the university's founders, said that Indonesia should take a lesson from China, which has widely availed of networks of businessmen of Chinese origin in promoting its products on the world market.

Like the Chinese, the 2 million Japanese business people overseas have also provided a valuable contribution to the marketing of Japanese products, he said.(02)
