Ciputat Traffic Gridlock This Afternoon After Truck Plunges into Drain
Traffic on Jalan Aria Putra Jombang in Ciputat, South Tangerang, was severely congested this afternoon. A debris-transport truck became wedged in a drainage channel. Ciputat Timur Police (Kompol) Bambang Askar Sodiq said the incident had been ongoing since 11:00 local time, and police officers together with Dishub were deployed to evacuate the vehicle.
‘The cause is that a truck became stuck into the drainage canal on Jalan Aria Putra, Jombang, Ciputat, which caused the jam,’ he said in a statement on Wednesday, 20 June 2026. The incident affected traffic heading towards Jakarta and Bintaro, which was congested. Traffic began to ease at 14:30 local time after the truck was evacuated.
‘The congestion heading towards Jakarta has now cleared,’ he added. The truck was believed to be heading to a project site in Pamulang. Bambang said there is already a ban on triple-axle trucks from passing through that location, but some drivers still defy it.
‘There is already a ban on 3-axle trucks from passing, but some still pass,’ he concluded.
