Ciputat River Flow in Bintaro Disrupted, Its Path Suspected to Have Changed Function

The Special Committee (Pansus) for the Draft Regional Regulation (Raperda) on the Regional Spatial Planning Plan (RTRW) of the South Tangerang City DPRD has discovered indications of the disruption of the Ciputat River’s flow in the Bintaro area. This finding emerged during a field inspection related to spatial planning and flood control on Tuesday (21/4/2026). The Pansus Chairman, Ahmad Syawqi, stated that the river flow, which should pass through several points, is no longer visible flowing as it should. In addition to that area, the Pansus also inspected Serpong Lagoon Housing, which is suspected of experiencing narrowing of the river flow, as well as the Taman Tekno Widya and Tekno X BSD warehouse areas regarding alleged zoning violations in the RTRW Regional Regulation. From preliminary investigations, the Pansus found evidence of changes to the Ciputat River’s path. The flow, which was previously straight, is now suspected to have been diverted. “We have checked the timeline going back, and there are indeed several changes in the river’s function. It used to be straight, now it’s turned,” said Syawqi. The Pansus also found indications that the Ciputat River flow is not functioning in the Pondok Jaya area, Pondok Aren Subdistrict. “We were accompanied by the Head of Water Resources Division earlier, and he didn’t know either,” revealed Syawqi. These findings will serve as material for further discussions in the preparation of the South Tangerang City Raperda RTRW, particularly regarding flood control and river flow management.
