Purwakarta — Toll road operators are deploying emergency escape lanes on the Cipularang toll road section to enhance safety during the Lebaran holiday travel period.

This facility is being prepared as a precaution against emergency situations on vehicles, particularly on sections known for long downhill gradients.

Agni Mayvinna, Senior Manager of the Representative Office 3 of Jasamarga Metropolitan Tollroad, stated that various safety measures have been implemented for road users, specifically on the Cipularang and Padaleunyi toll roads.

One key measure involves conducting safety awareness campaigns with road users before the Lebaran period begins. “Before this Lebaran period, we have also conducted safety awareness campaigns for all road users, including at Rest Areas at km 88 and km 149,” Agni explained.

In addition to awareness campaigns, operators are ensuring the completeness of road safety equipment such as signs and road markings in accordance with applicable regulations. “Besides awareness campaigns, secondly we are also completing all road signs and markings that have been established according to regulations,” she said.

Another important measure is the provision of emergency escape lanes (Jalur Penyelamat Darurat/JPD) on the Cipularang toll road. “Thirdly, we are also providing emergency escape lanes. On the Cipularang toll road section B, from Bandung towards Jakarta, there are three JPDs,” Agni stated.

The three emergency escape lanes are located at critical points: at kilometres 116, 92, and 91 on the Bandung to Jakarta direction. “These lanes are expected to be used by road users who may experience vehicle problems when passing through these points. They can immediately direct their vehicles to the JPD that we have provided,” she added.

The presence of these emergency escape lanes represents an important effort in ensuring the safety of holiday travellers passing through the main route connecting Jakarta and Bandung during the Lebaran period.
