Jasa Marga Metropolitan Tollroad is providing toll tariff discounts and potentially waiving tolls on key routes during the mudik (exodus) and pulang (return) periods for Lebaran 2026 to reduce traffic congestion during this peak travel period.

Senior General Manager Widyatmiko Nursetaji of Jasa Marga Metropolitan Tollroad Regional Division announced that the company is implementing a 30 per cent tariff discount on the Cipularang and Cisumdawu tollway sections. The discount applies to long-distance users in the Cipularang-Padaleunyi cluster, specifically those entering at Kalihurip Utama toll gate and exiting at Cisumdawu Utama.

“This discount applies to the longest-distance users—those entering at Kalihurip Utama and exiting at Cisumdawu Utama,” he stated in Bandung on Friday, 13 March. The discount takes effect during the mudik period from 15 March (00:00 WIB) to 17 March (23:59 WIB).

For the return journey, the same discount applies from 26 March (00:00 WIB) to 28 March (23:59 WIB). Widyatmiko explained that the discount is intended to stagger travellers and encourage them to depart earlier. “We hope travellers will be attracted by the discounted rates on these dates, so that travellers are not concentrated at peak times,” he said.

Additionally, Widyatmiko indicated that the company is not ruling out making certain tollway sections free during Lebaran. Specifically, the Jakarta-Cikampek (Japek) II South section from Kutanegara to JC Setu will be waived as a functional route. “This route will be toll-free for users if traffic is diverted there. So payment only applies up to Kutanegara, whilst the route from Sadang to Japek South will be free,” he explained.

He stressed that the Japek II South toll waiver will only apply during the return journey—that is, only for those travelling from Bandung towards Jakarta. “So it only applies during the return period,” he said.

Although the Japek II South route is technically ready for full 24-hour operation from 15 March, its opening will be situational. According to Widyatmiko, the decision to open the route rests with the national police, considering traffic conditions at critical bottlenecks. “This discretionary decision will be made if significant vehicle congestion occurs, particularly at kilometre 66 heading towards Jakarta or congestion at the Cikampek Utama toll gate,” he explained.

The Japek II South tollway is 52 kilometres long and has several exit gates. “For those coming from Bandung, they can enter via the functional route at Sadang and exit at Kutanegara, Bojongmangu, Sukaragam, or JC Setu. With this combination of discounted tariffs and a free alternative route, traffic on the main route is expected to be reduced, making travel smoother for the public. We hope the public’s departures are better staggered and not concentrated at one time and on one tollway access,” he concluded.
