Cipayung People's Banquet enlivens 81st Indonesian Independence Day with competitions and door prizes
The Cipayung People’s Banquet took place festively with a variety of competitions and door prizes to commemorate the 81st Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia in the Lubang Buaya area, Cipayung, East Jakarta.
“This People’s Banquet is organised by the State Secretariat to show appreciation to the community in Cipayung. So there are various competitions and also attractive prizes,” said Cipayung Police Chief Saut Parulian Tobing at the opening of the People’s Banquet in Lubang Buaya, Cipayung, East Jakarta, on Tuesday.
The banquet also served as an occasion for appreciation as well as entertainment for residents through various community competitions, an SME bazaar, and the distribution of prizes and door prizes.
Residents appeared enthusiastic about attending the People’s Banquet with family, relatives, friends, and neighbours.
Residents were not only invited to take part in the series of competitions but could also enjoy the atmosphere of togetherness in an event open to the public.
“There are six competitions: cracker eating, sack race, bakiak, tug of war, ball in a sarong using a helmet, and sarong relay,” said Saut.
Each competition provided prizes for the winners. For child participants, the prizes prepared were electronic goods such as smartwatches, tablets, and mobile phones.
Meanwhile, prizes for adult participants, particularly for team competitions, were given in the form of cash so that they would be easier for the winners to manage.
Furthermore, Saut said that the People’s Banquet also featured micro, small, and medium enterprise (MSME) operators. A total of 60 MSME tenants were prepared to enliven the event.
“So we divided it into two shifts, a morning session and an afternoon session, with each session filled by around 30 tenants,” said Saut.
Saut stressed that the entire series of activities could be enjoyed by the public free of charge, both the competitions and the presence of the MSME tenants.
The People’s Banquet began at 08.00 WIB and was planned to run until 16.00 WIB.
The atmosphere became even more festive when a number of residents managed to take home prizes from the various competitions and door prizes. One of them was Ida (54), a resident of RW 03, Lubang Buaya, who received a door prize in the form of a 32-inch television.
“Alhamdulillah, I really didn’t expect it. My intention in coming here was just to seek entertainment, watch the competitions, there was lots of food. Alhamdulillah, it turned out I could get a TV,” said Ida.
Happiness was also felt by Annisa (16), a resident of RW 9 Lubang Buaya. Annisa received a door prize in the form of a wardrobe.
“Thank you, Mr President. I really didn’t expect to get a wardrobe. This is useful for me, and I also ate a lot here,” said Annisa.
