The railway line connecting Cipatat Station in West Bandung Regency and Cianjur was buried by a landslide on Sunday (19/4) at around 19:55 WIB. The landslide occurred at Km 74+9/0 on the Cibeber-Lampegan section. During inspections, officials discovered structural issues with the rail track that posed a potential safety hazard for train travel. “Based on the examination results, the line is temporarily deemed unsafe for train operations,” stated Kuswardojo, Manager of Public Relations for PT KAI Daop 2 Bandung, when contacted. Kuswardojo explained that the KA Siliwangi (345) service from Cipatat to Sukabumi was cancelled, with trains only running as far as Cianjur Station. This decision was taken as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of all passengers and train operations. “Safety is non-negotiable. Therefore, the Cibeber-Lampegan section is temporarily closed until repairs are completed,” he said. Additionally, Kuswardojo noted that the KA 342 Siliwangi service from Sukabumi to Cipatat, scheduled to depart on Monday morning, 20 April, at 05:15, has also been cancelled. PT KAI Daop 2 Bandung extends its deepest apologies to all affected passengers due to this disruption. “We understand that this cancellation causes inconvenience to our service users,” he added. Kuswardojo assured that passengers cancelling tickets would receive a 100 percent refund of the ticket price, excluding booking fees. Cancellations can be processed via the Access by KAI application or directly at station counters. “PT KAI Daop 2 Bandung is currently accelerating repair efforts to restore normal train services as soon as possible. All handling processes prioritise safety and adhere to applicable operational standards,” he stated.
