Cirebon (ANTARA) - Traffic flow on the Cikopo-Palimanan (Cipali) toll road towards Cirebon, West Java, reached an average of 5,400 vehicles per hour passing through on H-3 Lebaran, or 18 March 2026.

“An increase in vehicle traffic occurred from 00:00 to 18:00 WIB,” said Head of Sustainability Management & Corporate Communications for Astra Tol Cipali, Ardam Rafif Trisilo, in his statement in Cirebon on Wednesday.

He stated that this traffic volume represented an increase of around 74 per cent compared to the same period on the previous day.

He mentioned that traffic conditions on the Cipali toll road were monitored as busy but smooth, despite slowdowns at several points.

“We recorded slowdowns at some points, but overall the flow remains controlled and smooth,” he said.

Ardam explained that the increase in vehicle volume was part of the surge in traffic for the homecoming journey ahead of Lebaran.

To maintain smooth traffic flow, his side urged road users not to stop on the shoulder except in emergencies.

“We urge road users not to stop on the shoulder of the road, as it can disrupt the flow,” he said.

He conveyed that road users are asked to utilise the nearest rest area for resting during the journey.

According to him, if the rest area’s parking capacity is full, road users can exit through the nearest toll gate to rest outside the toll road.

“The cause of slowdowns in the field is the increasing number of vehicles stopping on the shoulder, either due to engine problems or driver fatigue,” he said.

In addition, his side urged road users to prepare their journeys well, including ensuring the vehicle is in prime condition, sufficient fuel or electric vehicle charge, and adequate electronic money balance.
