Cipali Toll Road Begins to Experience Exodus Traffic Congestion
Traffic volume on the Cipali toll road (Cikopo–Palimanan) heading from Cikopo towards Cirebon, West Java, experienced an increase on Tuesday, 17 March, four days before Lebaran 2026.
The Sustainability Management & Corporate Communications Department Head of Astra Tol Cipali, Ardam Rafif Trisilo, stated that between 00:00 and 09:00 WIB on Tuesday, traffic was quite congested. “Approximately 22,000 vehicles were recorded passing through the Cipali toll road from Cikopo towards Cirebon during this period. Traffic volume increased by 22.2 per cent compared to the same time on the previous day,” Ardam said in a statement from Subang, West Java, on Tuesday.
In the opposite direction, approximately 8,000 vehicles passed through the Cipali toll road heading towards Jakarta from Cikopo. The number of vehicles increased by 2.2 per cent compared to the same time on the previous day.
Overall, traffic volume on the Cipali toll road increased by 9.2 per cent compared to the same time the previous day, Ardam noted.
“From the perspective of road user services, rest area conditions along the Cipali toll road are monitored to be busy with visitors, though parking capacity remains available,” he said.
Astra Tol Cipali urged road users to limit rest time to a maximum of 30 minutes, so that rest area facilities could be used alternately by other road users.
Additionally, road users could also utilise facilities outside the toll road by exiting through the nearest toll gate to rest and re-entering without being charged additional fees. This provision applies because the transaction system on the Trans-Java toll network uses a closed system, meaning toll rates remain calculated based on the distance travelled.
Astra Tol Cipali also urged road users not to stop on road shoulders to prevent traffic slowdowns and ensure collective safety.
