Cinnamon bark trade begins recovery following disaster in Agam, West Sumatra
The cinnamon bark business in Agam, West Sumatra, is beginning to recover in the aftermath of natural disasters that struck the region.
A collector was seen transferring dried cinnamon bark (Cinnamomum burmannii) from the top of a vehicle at his collection point in Jorong Toboh, Nagari Malalak Timur, Agam, West Sumatra, on Sunday (22/2/2026).
Sales of cinnamon bark from the area, which is marketed to several countries in Asia and Europe, have been gradually recovering over the past month following the reconnection of several road sections that were severed and collapsed due to flash floods and landslides at the end of November 2025.
