JAKARTA — CIMB Niaga recorded consolidated loans and financing of Rp242.6 trillion, up 6.7 per cent year-on-year (yoy). Growth was primarily driven by the corporate banking segment, which rose 15.1 per cent yoy, followed by commercial banking at 6.4 per cent yoy and small and medium-sized businesses at 1.9 per cent yoy.

CIMB Niaga’s consolidated third-party funds totalled Rp273.7 trillion, with low-cost current and savings accounts (CASA) reaching Rp197 trillion. CASA grew 4.4 per cent yoy, keeping the CASA ratio at 72 per cent.

CIMB Niaga President Director and Chief Executive Lani Darmawan said the bank had maintained its performance amid challenging economic conditions through business growth, disciplined cost management and operational efficiency. Pre-provision operating profit (PPoP) remained stable at Rp8.2 trillion, while non-interest income increased by 7.8 per cent yoy.

“Our focus is on strengthening asset quality, driving selective credit growth, optimising our funding mix and increasing sustainable fee-based income, while maintaining cost efficiency,” Lani said in a statement on CIMB Niaga’s financial performance for the first nine months of 2026 on Wednesday (28 October 2026).

Lani acknowledged that the bank’s profitability faced challenges from pressure on interest margins and higher provisions, which were part of a prudent approach to managing credit risk. Nevertheless, CIMB Niaga maintained its capital and liquidity position, with a capital adequacy ratio (CAR) of 23.7 per cent and a loan-to-deposit ratio (LDR) of 87.7 per cent. At the end of September 2026, CIMB Niaga’s consolidated assets totalled Rp384.8 trillion, up 4.2 per cent yoy, while consolidated profit before tax stood at Rp5.8 trillion.

Digital Transactions Support Performance

The acceleration in digital transactions also supported the bank’s performance, particularly through the OCTO app. CIMB Niaga’s QRIS transactions grew 69 per cent yoy through September 2026, becoming a key driver of its digital banking performance. BI-FAST transfers rose 38 per cent yoy, while bill payments increased 29 per cent yoy.

Overall, 90 per cent of CIMB Niaga customers’ transactions are now conducted through digital channels. Lusiana Saleh, the bank’s Head of Digital Banking and Contact Centre, said QRIS was the digital transaction channel most widely used by customers, followed by BI-FAST transfers.

As cashless transactions become more prevalent, CIMB Niaga welcomed the expansion of the zero per cent Merchant Discount Rate (MDR) policy, which took effect on 1 October 2026 for certain merchant categories. The Bank Indonesia (BI) policy is expected to support economic activity and encourage MSME activity, although it could affect the bank’s share of fee-based income. Lusiana said QRIS played a strategic role in maintaining customer loyalty and encouraging the continued use of CIMB Niaga’s digital services ecosystem.
