Cimanggis Police Station Member Serves as Witness in Bekasi Regent Corruption Case, Remains Active
JAKARTA — A police officer who served as a witness in the alleged corruption case involving suspended Bekasi Regent Ade Kuswara is known to still hold active status as a police member.
“At present, he is indeed registered as a member of Cimanggis Police Station. There is no information regarding this (resignation),” stated the Head of Public Relations of Depok Police Resort, Made Budi, when confirmed by Kompas.com on Wednesday (22/4/2026).
The police officer in question is Yayat Suderajat, who is assigned to the Intelligence and Security Unit of Cimanggis Police Station.
He appeared as a witness in the trial of the corruption criminal case ensnaring Ade Kuswara at the Bandung Corruption Court (Tipikor), on Wednesday (8/4/2026).
According to Made, the summons relates to the case currently being tried.
“Yes, that’s correct, (the individual was called as a witness) related to that case,” said Made.
To date, there is no further information regarding Yayat’s membership status in the police, including the possibility of resignation or deactivation.
The trial of the corruption case is still ongoing at the Bandung Corruption Court, presenting several witnesses to uncover the involvement of related parties in the matter.
Quoted from Wartakota Bekasi, Yayat’s name emerged after the Head of the Water Resources, Public Works, and Construction Agency of Bekasi Regency, Henry Lincoln, was also examined as a witness.
Yayat is also said to have received benefits from several local government projects during the leadership of Ade Kuswara in Bekasi Regency.
In this case, the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) designated Bekasi Regent Ade Kuswara Kunang, HM Kunang (the Regent’s father), and Sarjan as a private party as suspects, on Saturday (21/12/2025).
Acting Deputy for Enforcement and Execution of the KPK, Asep Guntur Rahayu, stated that this bribery case began when Ade Kuswara established communication with Sarjan, a private party providing project packages in the Bekasi Regency Government environment.
From that communication, over the past year, Regent Ade routinely requested upfront payments for project packages from Sarjan through the intermediary HM Kunang.
“The total upfront payments given by Sarjan to Regent Ade together with HM Kunang reached Rp 9.5 billion. The money was handed over in four instances through intermediaries,” said Asep, during a press conference on Saturday.
For their actions, Regent Ade Kuswara together with HM Kunang as recipients are charged under Article 12a or Article 11 and Article 12B of the Corruption Law in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph (1) first of the Criminal Code, as well as Article 5 paragraph (1) letter a or b or Article 13 of the Corruption Law in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph (1) first of the Criminal Code.
Meanwhile, Sarjan as the giver is charged under Article 5 paragraph (1) letter a or b or Article 13 of the Corruption Law.
