Cimahi City Government Declares Drought Emergency Alert to Face Long Dry Season

The Cimahi City Government has established a drought emergency alert status for three months, effective from 1 July to 30 September 2026. The designation is a measure to strengthen emergency handling while increasing preparedness to face the impacts of the dry season. “The drought emergency alert status was established through a Decree of the Mayor of Cimahi and is valid until September 2026,” said the Chief Executive of the Cimahi City Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), Fithriandy Kurniawan, when confirmed on Wednesday (8/7/2026). According to him, the policy is an anticipatory step so that the handling of drought impacts can be carried out quickly and in a coordinated manner. Fithriandy explained that based on predictions from the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), this year’s dry season is drier and longer due to the end of La Niña. The Cimahi City BPBD will coordinate with relevant parties to follow up on the status determination, including the Housing and Settlement Agency, the Civil Service Police Unit and Fire Department, the Indonesian National Armed Forces, the Indonesian National Police, and other related parties. “We will coordinate shortly for readiness to face this drought disaster. Of course, this handling must be done together so that it is faster and easier,” he said.
