Cilincing Bina Marga Revitalises Pavements for Pedestrian Comfort

The Cilincing Sub-district Bina Marga Task Force in North Jakarta is revitalising the pavement on Jalan Syekh Nawawi Al Bantani, Semper Timur Urban Village, as part of efforts to improve pedestrian comfort and safety while beautifying the area. The project is currently 65 percent complete and is targeted for completion by the end of July 2026, said Head of the Cilincing Bina Marga Task Force, Hartanto, in Jakarta on Tuesday. He explained that the repairs are part of infrastructure maintenance and revitalisation efforts to enhance security and comfort for pedestrians. According to him, the pavement was previously in a severely damaged condition, with many paving blocks missing or broken. The surface was uneven, and in some sections, it was level with the road, posing a potential danger to pedestrians. “The condition was damaged and it was built a long time ago. We are reorganising the pavement so it can function properly again and provide a sense of safety and comfort for the public who use it,” he said. He explained that the repairs cover a length of 300 metres with a width of 1.5 metres, involving five to ten ‘Pasukan Kuning’ personnel daily. The work includes replacing paving blocks, tidying up curbstones, and creating water channels. The project, which began in early July 2026, is targeted for completion by the end of the following month so the pavement can be optimally utilised by the public again. He urged residents to help maintain the improved facilities by not damaging them or using them for inappropriate purposes. “We urge the public to work together to keep the pavement clean and not use it for parking or other activities, so that these facilities can last longer,” he said. Meanwhile, a local resident, Hendra (37), appreciated the pavement repairs, stating that pedestrian safety is crucial given that the roads in Cilincing are often traversed by heavy-tonnage vehicles. “This repair is very beneficial for residents. Now pedestrians can walk more safely. Thank you to the officers who repaired this pavement,” he said.
