A resident in Cileungsi, Bogor Regency, West Java, was struck by gunfire during an operation by personnel from the Pomdam III/Siliwangi Military Police, who were investigating the alleged involvement of an Army officer as a protector for illegal subsidised gas refilling.

Commander of Denpom III/1 Bogor, Lieutenant Colonel CPM Anggi Wahyu Hardiyantly, explained that the incident took place on Monday (11/5/2026) in Kampung Garapan, Cileungsi, following community reports regarding the illegal practice.

“In that urgent situation, field personnel discharged warning shots into the air in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) to control the situation,” Anggi stated when contacted on Sunday (17/5/2026).

“However, one civilian was hit by a ricochet or the impact of the shot on their right shoulder,” Anggi added.

The incident is currently under investigation by Pomdam III/Siliwangi. Further details regarding the matter will be provided by the Press Officer of Kodam III/Siliwangi.
