Police have arrested a gang of brutal robbers who tortured an elderly couple, Samah (66) and Hamim (69), in Cileungsi, Bogor Regency. Cileungsi Police Chief (Kapolsek) Kompol Edison went undercover as a power company maintenance worker whilst apprehending the ringleader.

“The Cileungsi Police Chief successfully arrested the main perpetrator, identified as M, aged 29 years old. The perpetrator was arrested by the Cileungsi Police Chief in Cipendeuy, West Bandung Regency. As colleagues have seen on social media, the Police Chief disguised himself as a PLN electricity company officer,” stated Bogor Police Chief (Kapolres) AKBP Wikha Ardilestanto on Monday 16 March 2026.

“Yesterday, the Police Chief came disguised and pretended to be a PLN officer who would be installing a pole, and ultimately proceeded to arrest the main perpetrator identified as M,” he added.

Wikha explained that the robbery gang’s torture case was uncovered after perpetrator K was arrested by Batang Police, Central Java Regional Police, for livestock theft. From that arrest, the identity of perpetrator E emerged, who was subsequently apprehended in Cianjur, West Java.

“From the coordination between Cileungsi Police Station and Batang Police, perpetrator K was one of the robbery perpetrators in Cileungsi. Further investigation revealed information about five other perpetrators, which led to the arrest of perpetrator E in Cianjur,” Wikha explained.

Currently, according to Wikha, two perpetrators identified as M and E remain under investigation at Cileungsi Police Station, whilst perpetrator K is being investigated at Batang Police Station due to a separate case.

“Regarding the other perpetrators, we are still pursuing them at this time. Cileungsi Police Station has coordinated with Bogor Police to effect further arrests,” Wikha stated.

“The perpetrators are being charged under Article 479 paragraph 2 of the Indonesian Criminal Code for robbery with violence, carrying a maximum prison sentence of 12 years,” he added.

Operating across 50 crime scenes

Police have arrested three of six brutal robbers. The robbery gang has operated across 50 locations or crime scenes.

Wikha Ardilestanto stated that three perpetrators, identified as M, E and K, have been apprehended. Perpetrator K is currently detained at Batang Police Station, Central Java Regional Police, for a separate case.

“Investigation has revealed that this gang has committed crimes across 50 crime scenes in Central Java and West Java,” Wikha said.
