Cilegon Primary School to Close Due to Declining Enrolment and Industrial Expansion
Only 36 pupils remain at SD Negeri Cilodan, a state primary school in Cilegon, Banten, which has not received any new enrolments since 2024 and has been affected by the expansion of industrial development in the area. The school is now set to be closed by the government.
Cilegon's Head of the Education and Culture Agency, Heni Anita Susila, said on Wednesday (16 July) that the closure has already been approved by Cilegon Mayor Robinsar.
The remaining pupils of SDN Cilodan will be transferred to nearby schools, including SDN Pangabuan and SDN Gunung Sugih.
