The Mayor of Cilegon, Robinsar, announced the opening of registrations for the free Mudik programme titled Mudik Berkah 2026 after chairing a preparatory meeting at the Mayor’s Official Residence in Cilegon on Wednesday, 4 March 2026.

Registration will commence on 9 March 2026 at 08:00 WIB and will be conducted online through the Cilegon Juare application. The quota is set at 48 to 50 buses, amounting to around 2,200 to 2,300 seats. The programme will serve 43 destinations across six provinces.

Each applicant must use a Cilegon City ID (KTP Kota Cilegon), with the rule that one KTP may register up to four people. All data will be verified by the committee before being deemed eligible.

Those interested in the programme are advised to be ready from early in the morning, as the available quota is expected to fill quickly. The Cilegon City Government has also begun socialising the information to ensure it reaches the public widely.

Robinsar assured that the entire registration system has been prepared to ensure orderly and transparent processing. He said the free mudik programme is a form of government service to the people, while helping residents return to their hometowns safely and comfortably during Eid.

He predicted that the number of applicants could reach between 15,000 and 20,000 people. Therefore, system and server capacity has been optimised to anticipate a surge in access when registration opens. ‘Even though it is online, we will still provide support desks for residents who need assistance,’ he added.

In implementation, the programme involves support from local industry and banking sectors of Cilegon. However, this year participants will not receive a pocket money stipend. ‘This year there is no pocket money because we prioritise increasing the number of seats to better accommodate more people,’ he said.

Head of the City Department of Transportation (Dishub) Heri Suheri said all buses will undergo roadworthiness checks before departure. The checks, he said, are to ensure technical fitness and passenger safety. ‘God willing, roadworthiness checks will be carried out three days before departure (H-3). This is to ensure the vehicles are fit for road and there will be no obstacles during the journey,’ he added.
