Cilegon Chamber of Commerce Chairman Named Suspect in Rp5 Trillion Extortion of Chinese Investor

JAKARTA - The General Criminal Investigation Directorate (Ditreskrimum) of Banten Regional Police has named three individuals as suspects following the viral video of an alleged Rp5 trillion extortion attempt carried out by senior figures of the Cilegon Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin).

The three suspects are Muhammad Salim (MS), Chairman of Cilegon City Kadin; Ismatullah (IS), Deputy Chairman for Industry at Cilegon Kadin; and Rufaji Jahuri (RJ), Chairman of the Indonesian Fishermen's Association (HNSI) Cilegon. All three have been named as suspects in the extortion case.

"Based on the results of the investigation and inquiry conducted by Ditreskrimum investigators at Banten Regional Police, we have carried out a case review and named three individuals as suspects," said Banten Regional Police General Criminal Investigation Director Commissioner Dian Setyawan on Saturday (17/5/2025).

Dian detailed the roles of each suspect. Muhammad Salim, in his capacity as Cilegon Kadin Chairman, allegedly recruited and mobilised people to carry out the action at PT Chengda Engineering Co, a Chinese investor.
