Tangerang (ANTARA) - The Tangerang City Transportation Department (Dinas Perhubungan) in Banten said that the BRT Tayo corridor CBD Ciledug-Tangcity Mall Cikokol in Tangerang City could not yet operate to full passenger service due to flooding in the Ciledug area. The head of the Tangerang City Transportation Department Achmad Suhaely said on Sunday that, by noon, Jalan HOS Cokroaminoto to Jalan Hasyim Ashari Cipondoh still faced long traffic jams. ‘The impact of flooding in the Ciledug area means the BRT corridor CBD Ciledug-Tangcity Mall cannot operate to serve passengers until access can be used normally again,’ Suhaely said. Since morning, the municipality has temporarily closed access along Jalan HOS Cokroaminoto-Hasyim Ashari Cipondoh in line with the water level at the Ciledug Indah Bridge. The closure is conditional, adjusting to water levels which are expected to persist into the afternoon. Field observations show water levels from the overflow of Kali Angke at the bridge in front of the entrance to the Ciledug Indah housing are still around 50 centimetres. In addition, the Tangerang City Government urged road users to avoid congestion by seeking alternative routes. ‘We have temporarily restricted road access for the safety of road users today. This access will be limited until conditions allow road users to pass again,’ he said. It should be noted that the Tangerang City Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) said nine districts were affected by floods, with water depths ranging from 40 centimetres to 150 centimetres. ‘Heavy rainfall since yesterday through Sunday morning has fallen without interruption, resulting in floods and inundations in several locations,’ said Mahdiar, Acting Head of BPBD Kota Tangerang. Some residents affected have evacuated to posts including RPH and Mushola Petir Cipondoh, Ma’arif Mosque Petir, and GOR Total Persada.
