Cilangkap residents collaborate with government to build community hall
Residents of Jalan Assyafi’iyah RT 005/RW 03, Cilangkap Urban Village, Cipayung District, East Jakarta, have taken the initiative to build a community hall after collaborating with the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government, the regional-owned enterprise PAM JAYA, and various elements of society to realise the effort.
“City development becomes more meaningful when it is carried out through collaboration between residents, the government, and various stakeholders,” said Presidium Prakarsa Warga’s Lukman Hakim Piliang at the groundbreaking ceremony for the community hall in Jakarta on Saturday.
According to him, collaboration of this kind is important because the needs of the community cannot always be met by the government alone.
He added that the community hall is not merely a physical building, but a space for the growth of participation, mutual cooperation, and community empowerment.
“When the government provides policy support, residents take the initiative, and businesses as well as regional-owned enterprises such as PAM JAYA help underpin the development, a public facility can be born from the spirit of gotong royong,” he said.
For the residents themselves, he noted, the construction is not the final goal.
“The community hall is expected to become the starting point for the growth of more activities, participation, and community empowerment at the neighbourhood level,” he said.
