Cilacap Regent Transported by KPK Investigators to Jakarta by Train This Evening
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) transported Cilacap Regent Syamsul Auliya Rachman and several officials from the Cilacap District Government in Central Java to Jakarta after undergoing preliminary questioning at the Banyumas Police Resort (Polresta) headquarters on Friday evening.
From observations at Polresta Banyumas headquarters in Purwokerto, Banyumas District, Syamsul, wearing a white mask, was seen leaving the Criminal Investigation Unit (Satreskrim) building at 21:05 WIB, followed by several Cilacap district government officials and KPK investigators.
When asked by journalists, Syamsul and other officials declined to provide any comment. They proceeded directly to several vehicles that had been prepared in the Satreskrim building yard.
Once all the officials were in the vehicles, the minibus-type vehicle immediately left Polresta Banyumas headquarters for Purwokerto Station.
Upon arriving at Purwokerto Station, the convoy entered the VIP waiting room to await the departure of the Purwojaya train bound for Jakarta Gambir at 21:37 WIB.
Based on available information, in addition to the Cilacap Regional Secretary, several officials transported to Jakarta alongside Regent Syamsul included the Assistant for Government and Public Welfare, Assistant for Economy and Development, Assistant for General Administration, Head of the Public Works and Spatial Planning Service, Head of the Education and Culture Service, and Head of the Water Resources Management Service.
Meanwhile, before Regent Syamsul and the officials left Polresta Banyumas headquarters, Cilacap District Parliament Secretariat Basuki Priyo Nugroho was seen arriving at the Satreskrim building around 19:00 WIB.
Subsequently, Basuki left the Satreskrim building around 20:45 WIB. When contacted by journalists, he declined to comment regarding the questioning conducted by KPK investigators against Cilacap district government officials.
He, who had just returned from an official assignment outside the city, claimed to have been only on the first floor of the Satreskrim building and did not meet with Syamsul or KPK investigators. “I didn’t meet them; I was outside, on the first floor,” he said.
Previously, the KPK conducted a dawn operation (OTT) against Cilacap Regent Syamsul Auliya Rachman and 26 others in connection with allegations of receiving bribes from projects in Cilacap District.
“There are allegations of acceptance received by the regent’s side related to projects in Cilacap District, Central Java,” said KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo at the KPK Red and White Building in Jakarta on Friday, 13 March 2026.
