Cilacap Regent Syamsul Auliya Rachman Undergoes Questioning at Banyumas Police Headquarters Following KPK Arrest
Cilacap Regent Syamsul Auliya Rachman (SAR) underwent initial questioning at the Criminal Investigation Unit Building of Banyumas City Police Headquarters after being apprehended in a dawn raid operation conducted by the Anti-Corruption Commission (KPK) in Cilacap, Central Java, on Friday (13 March) afternoon.
A Banyumas Regional Police officer reported that a coach carrying SAR and several officials from Cilacap Regency Government arrived at Banyumas Regional Police Headquarters in Purwokerto, Banyumas Regency, at approximately 16:15 Western Indonesian Time and proceeded directly to the Criminal Investigation Unit Building.
“Usually when the KPK conducts operations, they borrow police facilities in the nearest regency or city to conduct initial questioning,” the police officer stated.
According to observations, several Cilacap Regency officials, including Cilacap Regional Secretary Sadmoko Danardono, were seen leaving the Criminal Investigation Unit Building at approximately 17:05 Western Indonesian Time to perform the Asr prayer at Banyumas Regional Police Headquarters mosque.
When questioned by journalists, Sadmoko only smiled while walking towards the mosque accompanied by Banyumas Regional Police personnel. At approximately 17:20 Western Indonesian Time, Sadmoko and several Cilacap Regency officials returned to the Criminal Investigation Unit Building following the Asr prayer.
When questioned by journalists regarding the case involving Cilacap Regent, the Cilacap Regional Secretary refused to comment. “Let us just follow the process,” he said.
Previously, the Anti-Corruption Commission (KPK) arrested Cilacap Regent Syamsul Auliya Rachman in the ninth dawn raid operation of 2026, which was also the third operation during Ramadan 1447 Hijriah. “Confirmed,” said KPK Vice-Chair Fitroh Rohcahyanto when contacted by the Indonesian News Agency (ANTARA) from Jakarta on Friday.
The KPK has 24 hours to determine the status of individuals arrested in the dawn raid operation in accordance with the Indonesian Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP), including Cilacap Regent who is a regional head in Central Java Province.
The KPK seized money in the form of Indonesian rupiah. However, officials were unable to provide further details as the amount was still being calculated.
Following the KPK dawn raid in Cilacap, Central Java, Cilacap Regency officials, including Regent Syamsul Auliya Rachman and other officials, underwent intensive questioning at Banyumas Regional Police Criminal Investigation Unit. The KPK conducted the operation against Cilacap Regent Syamsul Auliya Rachman regarding alleged bribery in relation to a project. A total of 27 individuals were questioned intensively and funds were seized.
