Cilacap Regent Syamsul Auliya Caught in KPK Anti-Corruption Sting Operation Alongside Regional Secretary
Cilacap Regent Syamsul Auliya Rachman was caught in a Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) anti-corruption sting operation yesterday. Regent Syamsul was detained together with Cilacap Regional Secretary Sadmoko Danardono.
KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo revealed that Syamsul and Sadmoko have been brought to Jakarta. Both were transported to Jakarta alongside 11 other individuals.
“Thirteen individuals have been brought to Jakarta. Those detained include the Regent, the Regional Secretary, and structural officials from the Cilacap Regency administration,” Budi told journalists on Saturday (14 March 2026).
All 13 individuals arrived in Jakarta in the early morning hours. They are currently undergoing intensive questioning at the KPK’s Red and White building.
“They arrived at the KPK Red and White building at approximately 02:35 Western Indonesian Time. Intensive questioning is currently underway,” Budi explained.
Prior to being transported to Jakarta, Regent Syamsul was held at Banyumas Police Station following the sting operation. There he underwent preliminary questioning by the KPK investigation team.
According to detikJateng, on Friday (13 March), Regent Syamsul left the Banyumas Police Station’s Crime Investigation Unit building at 21:12 Western Indonesian Time. He was seen wearing a green face mask, a long-sleeved white shirt, and black trousers.
Syamsul remained silent when questioned by journalists at the location. Syamsul left alongside several KPK investigators heading towards Purwokerto Station. Besides Syamsul, Cilacap Regional Secretary Sadmoko Danardono and several heads of regional government agencies were also seen, all wearing face masks.
Upon arrival at Purwokerto Station, the group immediately proceeded to the VIP waiting room. According to information gathered, the group boarded the Purwojaya train at 21:37 Western Indonesian Time.
KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo previously stated that a total of 27 individuals were detained in the sting operation in Cilacap. The case against Syamsul involves allegations of bribery related to public projects.
“Allegations relate to illicit receipt of funds by the Regent in connection with various projects in Cilacap Regency,” Budi said.
The KPK has 1×24 hours to determine the legal status of those detained in the sting operation. Currently, those detained remain classified as persons under investigation.
