Cilacap Regent Ordered Regional Secretary to Collect Funds for Eid Holiday Allowance, Amassing Rp 610 Million

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has designated Cilacap Regent Syamsul Auliya Rachman as a suspect in an alleged extortion case. It has emerged that Syamsul requested Cilacap Regional Secretary Sadmoko Danardono to collect money contributions ostensibly intended for Eid holiday bonuses in 2026.

KPK Deputy for Enforcement and Execution Asep Guntur Rahayu stated that Sadmoko had targeted contributions from each local government office totalling Rp 750 million from a stated need of Rp 515 million. He targeted each agency to contribute between Rp 75–100 million.

“It is established that the individual AUL, as Cilacap Regent for the 2025–2030 period, in conjunction with Eid al-Fitr celebration of 1447 Hijri, instructed the individual SAD, as Regional Secretary of Cilacap Regency, to collect funds for providing holiday bonuses to personal and external parties,” Asep stated during his press conference at the KPK’s Red and White Building in South Jakarta on Saturday, 14 March 2026.

“Although the actual contributions received varied from Rp 3 million to Rp 100 million per local government office,” he added.

Syamsul requested that the contributions be submitted by 13 March 2026. If local government offices failed to submit contributions, they would be pursued by assistant regents assisted by the head of the civil police unit and the head of the food security service in Cilacap.

A total of Rp 610 million was collected. The funds were subsequently handed over to Sadmoko by one of the assistants named Ferry Adhi Dharma.

“During the period of 9–13 March 2026, 23 local government offices in Cilacap Regency submitted contributions as requested by the regent, collected through FER, with a total reaching Rp 610 million,” Asep stated.

Cilacap Regent Syamsul Auliya Rachman was apprehended in a KPK anti-corruption operation. Regent Syamsul was arrested alongside Cilacap Regional Secretary Sadmoko Danardono.

Before being brought to Jakarta, Regent Syamsul was secured at Banyumas Police Station following the operation. There he underwent initial questioning by the KPK team.

KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo said the case ensnaring Regent Syamsul and Regional Secretary Sadmoko was related to alleged extortion.

“There is suspected receipt of funds by the regent’s office in connection with projects in Cilacap Regency,” Budi stated.
