Cilacap Regent Arrested in KPK Sting Operation, To Be Brought to Jakarta This Evening

The Regent of Cilacap, Syamsul Aulia Rahman, has been arrested in a sting operation (OTT) conducted by the KPK in Cilacap, Central Java. The KPK team is bringing Syamsul to Jakarta this evening.

According to detikJateng, Friday (13 March 2026), Syamsul was initially secured at the Banyumas Police Resort following the sting operation. There he underwent preliminary examination by the KPK team.

According to detikJateng’s observations, Regent Syamsul left the Sat Reskrim building of Banyumas Police Resort at 21.12 WIB. He appeared wearing a green face mask, white long-sleeved shirt, and black trousers.

Syamsul remained silent when questioned by media representatives at the location. Syamsul left accompanied by several KPK investigators to Purwokerto Station. Besides Syamsul, the Cilacap Deputy Regent Sadmoko Danardono and several heads of regional departments also appeared, wearing face masks.

Upon arriving at Purwokerto Station, the group immediately proceeded to the VIP waiting room. According to information gathered, the group boarded the Purwojaya train at 21.37 WIB.

KPK spokesman Budi Prasetyo previously stated that a total of 27 individuals were detained in the sting operation in Cilacap. The case involving Syamsul concerns allegations of bribery related to projects. “There are alleged receipts conducted by the Regent’s office in connection with development projects in Cilacap regency,” Budi said.
