Cilacap Regent Arrested in KPK Sting Operation, Possesses Assets Worth Rp12 Billion
Jakarta — The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) conducted a sting operation (OTT) against Cilacap Regent Syamsul Auliya Rachman on Friday.
The specific corruption charges have not yet been disclosed, but the KPK has confirmed that the arrest in the sting operation is genuine.
Syamsul Auliya Rachman, born 30 November 1985, began his career as a bureaucrat from the ground level before transitioning to politics. An alumnus of the Institute of Domestic Government Affairs (IPDN), he previously served as an aide to the Cilacap Regent and as Deputy Regent of Cilacap from 2017 to 2022, partnering with Tatto Suwarto Pamudi, who he had previously served.
In the 2024 regional head election (Pilkada), Syamsul Auliya Rachman partnered with Ammy Amaliya Fatma and secured the most votes with 414,533 votes, becoming Regent and Deputy Regent of Cilacap for the 2024-2029 term.
During his political career, Syamsul Auliya, a native of Cilacap Regency, also held the position of chairman of the political party that nominated him.
Syamsul Auliya completed his final education with a doctorate degree from IPDN Jakarta. He previously served in government as sub-section head of Regional Autonomy and Cooperation at the Government Affairs section of the Cilacap Regency Government in 2013.
In 2012, he served as head of section for order and peace (Kasi Trantibum) in Kedungreja District, Cilacap Regency, Central Java.
According to his 2025 periodic Wealth Report of State Administrators (LHKP), Syamsul Auliya Rachman possesses assets totalling Rp12,039,790,782.
These assets consist of land and buildings in Cilacap Regency covering 3,234 square metres valued at Rp8 billion, and an additional plot of land covering 140 square metres valued at Rp150 million.
He also holds moveable assets comprising transportation and machinery valued at Rp1.4 billion, comprising a 2021 Toyota minibus gifted without deed valued at Rp900 million and a 2024 Toyota SUV acquired through his own means valued at Rp500 million.
Other immoveable assets are valued at Rp360 million, cash and cash equivalents valued at Rp1,295,400,782, and other assets totalling Rp1.05 billion, bringing his total assets to Rp12,255,400,782.
Syamsul Auliya Rachman also has outstanding debts of Rp215,610,000. After deducting the debt, his net assets total Rp12,039,790,782.
