Cilacap Regent Arrested in KPK Sting Operation, 27 Individuals Transported to Banyumas Police Station
BANYUMAS – The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) conducted a sting operation against Cilacap Regent Syamsul Auliya Rachman on Friday, 13 March 2026. A total of 27 individuals, including Syamsul, were questioned by KPK investigators at Banyumas Police Station.
“Today the KPK conducted a closed investigative operation in the Cilacap district area. In this operation, the team secured 27 individuals, one of whom is the Cilacap Regent,” stated KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo when asked about the sting operation against Syamsul.
“In addition, the team also secured evidence including cash. The individuals who have been secured are currently undergoing intensive questioning,” Budi added.
He confirmed that all 27 individuals were being questioned at Banyumas Police Station. Banyumas Police Station Commander Kombes Pol Petrus Parningotan Silalahi verified that KPK investigators borrowed interrogation room facilities from the Criminal Investigation Unit at Banyumas Police Station to question a number of parties related to the sting operation.
Petrus stated he was not at his office when the KPK investigative team arrived at the police station. “I don’t know when the questioning started. However, I was informed it was around 3 p.m.,” he said when contacted by telephone.
He added that KPK investigators had coordinated with his office before borrowing rooms at Banyumas Police Station for the questioning. “The questioning is still ongoing,” said Petrus, who was reached at 18:30 Western Indonesian Time.
Petrus said KPK investigators borrowed more than five rooms for the questioning process. “I simply provided facilities as a fellow law enforcement officer,” he stated.
However, Petrus admitted he did not know details about the questioning materials and who specifically was being questioned by KPK investigators. Because he was on duty at a checkpoint, he was unaware whether Regent Syamsul Auliya Rachman was among those being questioned at Banyumas Police Station.
