The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has confirmed the seizure of cash during an anti-corruption operation that detained Cilacap Regent Syamsul Auliya Rachman. The KPK’s investigative team secured 27 individuals during the covert operation in Central Java.

“Evidence secured during this operation includes cash in various forms,” said KPK spokesman Budi Prasetyo at KPK headquarters in South Jakarta on Friday, 13 March.

The cash discovered is suspected to be linked to bribery practices involving several development projects in Cilacap Regency. However, the anti-corruption agency has yet to specify the total amount seized as verification is still ongoing. “We will update the amount later,” said Budi.

Currently, those detained in the operation remain under intensive questioning in Cilacap. Budi added that some will soon be transferred to Jakarta for further investigation at KPK headquarters.

“This is still an ongoing process. Preliminary questioning is still being conducted in the field,” Budi explained.

Under the Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP), the KPK has 24 hours to determine the legal status of those detained. Full details regarding the suspects’ status and the complete case structure will be announced through an official press conference.
