The regent of Cilacap, Syamsul Auliya Rachman, was arrested by Indonesia’s Anti-Corruption Commission (KPK) in a sting operation (OTT) on Friday, 13 March 2026. He is suspected of receiving bribes or fees from numerous projects within the Cilacap District Government in Central Java.

The KPK conducted the sting operation in the Cilacap district area and detained a total of 27 individuals, including Syamsul Auliya Rachman. The remaining 26 detainees come from diverse backgrounds, ranging from government officials, civil servants (ASN), to private sector representatives. All those apprehended in the sting operation remain under questioning at the Banyumas City Police Resort headquarters.

The KPK suspects that Syamsul received financial flows from the regional government projects in question. However, the KPK has not yet provided further details on which specific projects are suspected of being connected to the case.

According to his Statement of Assets and Liabilities (LHKPN), Syamsul Auliya Rachman is recorded as possessing total wealth exceeding Rp 12 billion. The majority of his wealth derives from land and building assets valued at more than Rp 8 billion.

Based on LHKPN data, Syamsul is recorded as owning two assets comprising land and buildings with a combined value of approximately Rp 8.15 billion. One of his largest property assets is a house built on 3,234 square metres of land with a building area of approximately 1,000 square metres.

Another property asset reported by the Cilacap regent is a plot of land covering 140 square metres in Cilacap, valued at Rp 150 million. In addition to property assets, Syamsul also owns vehicles with a combined value of Rp 1.4 billion, consisting of two motor vehicles: a Toyota Minibus obtained as a gift without deed, and a Toyota SUV listed as acquired through his own business activities.

Syamsul’s wealth declaration also includes various other assets. He is further recorded as having liabilities totalling Rp 215.61 million. When summed and adjusted for liabilities, the total wealth reported by Syamsul in his LHKPN reaches Rp 12.039.790.782.

The LHKPN is a mandatory report that must be submitted by government officials to the KPK as part of efforts to ensure transparency and prevent corruption.
