Cilacap Regent Arrested Following KPK Sting Operation

The Cilacap regent, Syamsul Auliya Rachman, has been formally arrested and designated as a suspect by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) following a sting operation. The KPK has also arrested and charged the Cilacap district secretary, Sadmoko Danardono, in connection with the same operation.

The sting operation, which took place on 14 March 2026, was conducted at KPK headquarters in Jakarta. The operation centred on allegations of extortion directed at regional officials to fund personal holiday allowances and external Forkopimda holiday allowances.

As part of the operation, the KPK secured Rp610 million in cash as evidence. Both suspects underwent questioning at the KPK’s Red and White Building before being detained.
