Cilacap Regent and Officials Caught in KPK Sting Operation Questioned at Banyumas Police
Following a Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) sting operation (OTT) in Cilacap, Central Java, officials from the Cilacap District Government, including Regent Syamsul Auliya Rachman, were questioned at the Criminal Investigation Unit of Banyumas Police (Polresta Banyumas).
Those caught in the sting operation were transported by bus from Cilacap, with dozens of individuals aboard. The group arrived at Polresta Banyumas at 4:00 PM local time.
According to observations, several officials were present at the Criminal Investigation Unit premises. Among them was Cilacap Regional Secretary (Sekda) Satmoko Danardono, who was observed performing afternoon prayers at the Polresta Banyumas mosque.
In addition to the Regional Secretary, various department heads were visible at the location, including Head of Communication and Information Services Buddy Haryanto, Head of Community Empowerment and Village Affairs Heru Kurniawan, Head of Industry, Trade, Cooperatives and Small-Medium Enterprises Oktrivianto Subekti, and Head of Social Services Dr Ichlas Riyanto.
A source at Polresta Banyumas, who requested anonymity, stated that the Cilacap Regent and several other officials were also brought to the location. They reportedly arrived on a bus with registration number R 7127 OT.
As of Friday evening, the Regent and other officials remained under questioning. The KPK conducted the sting operation against Cilacap Regent Syamsul Auliya Rachman regarding alleged project bribery. A total of 27 individuals were intensively questioned and cash was seized.
Previously, on 13 March 2026, the KPK announced the ninth sting operation of 2026, which was also the third during Ramadan.
When asked by journalists, Satmoko merely smiled whilst walking towards the mosque, accompanied by Polresta Banyumas personnel.
The KPK has a window of 1 × 24 hours to determine the status of those arrested in the sting operation, including the Cilacap Regent.
