Cikini Station Now Equipped with Platform Lifts to Facilitate Access for People with Disabilities
JAKARTA - KAI Commuter has provided platform lift facilities at Cikini Station in Central Jakarta to facilitate access for people with disabilities. Managing Director of KAI Commuter, Mochamad Purnomosidi, said the facility is an effort to increase comfort and accessibility for KRL users. “Cikini Station is a pilot, this is an example. We will install it at other stations later,” Purnomo said during a press conference at Cikini Station, Central Jakarta, on Monday (30/3/2026). He explained that the platform lift connects several floors in the station, from the ground floor to the tap-in area and up to the departure platform. “So at Cikini Station, we have two: the first from the lower floor to the second floor for tapping, for the tap-in gate. Then from the second to the third floor to enter the KRL,” he clarified. “We will prioritise based on our data. First, stations without lifts, second, those with the highest passenger volume,” he said. Purnomo also assured that the platform lift facility has been certified and is safe for passengers to use. “Today we are testing it. Of course, it is also certified, so it is safe and comfortable for friends who will use it later,” he stated. “Security officers will always accompany people with disabilities,” he added.
