Cikarang KRL Commuter Line Returns to Normal After Derailment at Pasar Senen Station
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The KRL Commuter Line crossing Cikarang, known as the Blue Line, has returned to normal after a long-distance train derailment at Pasar Senen Station in Central Jakarta was resolved on Friday, 22 May 2026. The disruption at Pasar Senen was caused by the derailment of the Jaka Tingkir locomotive and the Serayu carriage.
Karina Amanda, VP Corporate Secretary of KAI Commuter, told Kompas.com via text message on Friday that all journeys on the Cikarang route were back to normal and that the service diversions had ended. “Indeed (all Cikarang route journeys are smooth). The diversions have been removed,” she said.
Leza Arlan, Manager for Public Relations at KAI Commuter, said that normalisation of travel was being carried out gradually to ensure the services remained safe and under control. “Around 13:15 WIB, Commuter Line No. 6033 bound for Kampung Bandan became the first service to pass through Pasar Senen Station and resume serving passengers,” Leza said in a written statement.
As of 13:55 WIB, a total of 21 Cikarang-line trips had undergone service pattern revisions and adjustments toward Pasar Senen or Kemayoran stations. “KAI Commuter continues to disentangle the sequence of journeys to speed up operational normalisation and to minimise delays on the line,” she added.
KAI Commuter apologised for the inconvenience experienced by passengers due to the disruption and urged travellers to follow station staff instructions and prioritise safety.
The travel diversions apply to the Cikarang–Manggarai line, currently serving journeys only up to Kemayoran. The Cikarang via Pasar Senen service is currently operating only up to Pasar Senen.
Earlier on Friday, the Jaka Tingkir locomotive and the Serayu carriage derailed in the Pasar Senen Station yard at 07:42 WIB.
