Transport Minister Dudy Purwagandhi stated this during a press conference on Wednesday (29/4/2026). His side is awaiting clearance from the National Transportation Safety Committee (KNKT).

“Today, insyaallah, if clearance has been given by the KNKT—since the KNKT is the party responsible for the investigation—if there is clearance from the KNKT, we will reopen the Jabodetabek KRL service from Cikarang and Bekasi Timur to operate again,” he said.

He mentioned that it is currently still in the trial process. The trial is being conducted on the tracks to ensure the service.

“Now we are in the preparation process for trials. Both track trials, roads, and so on to ensure this station can serve again,” he explained.

He stated that the most important thing is passenger safety. According to him, this is the most crucial aspect.

“The most important thing is safety. That is the priority. What we want to emphasise to PT KAI in preparing the Bekasi Timur station,” he said.

Meanwhile, PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) President Director Bobby Rasyidin emphasised that the KRL service will open this afternoon. Everything will be ensured to operate as before.

“Insyaallah, this afternoon we will open our KRL service, the Cikarang Line, which will operate with the same frequency as before,” he said.

He emphasised that safety is KAI’s priority. He does not want to lower the safety standards.

“We also need to emphasise that safety is our priority. We have zero tolerance for violations or lowering safety levels,” he stated.

He explained that the operational reopening will be done gradually. Everything is based on instructions from the KNKT.

“The process will be carried out gradually. And at this time, we have received clearance from the KNKT that the route can be operated, with the condition of speed restrictions,” he clarified.

Previously, the Argo Bromo Anggrek train collided with a stationary KRL at Bekasi Timur Station on Monday (27/4) night. The incident began with a taxi getting stuck under the KRL at a crossing not far from Bekasi Timur Station.

The taxi getting stuck under the KRL caused the KRL at Bekasi Station to wait. The Argo Bromo Anggrek then arrived and collided from behind.

The rail accident resulted in 15 fatalities and dozens injured.
