Cijambu Village Head Found Dead Hanging in Plantation

SS (70 years old), the Village Head of Cijambu, Tanjungsari District, Sumedang Regency, was found dead hanging in a plantation area not far from his home on Wednesday (30/09/2026). The incident occurred approximately 500 metres from his residence.

Acting Head of Criminal Investigation at Sumedang Police, AKP Dadang Sutisna, stated that the discovery began when a local resident found the body hanging in the plantation area on Wednesday. It was subsequently identified that the deceased was the Cijambu Village Head.

“A resident of Cijambu Village, Tanjungsari District, discovered the hanging body, which was later identified as the Village Head of Cijambu,” he said, as quoted on Thursday (01/10/2026).

Following the discovery, the police were notified and immediately arrived at the scene to conduct a crime scene investigation alongside the Inafis forensic team. The local community health centre (Puskesmas) was also involved in the examination.

“According to the local health centre, no signs of wounds or violence were found on the body of the village head,” he stated.

He added that the victim was found hanging in a plantation area roughly 500 metres from his house. Authorities are still investigating the circumstances surrounding why the victim was found hanging.

Police are currently questioning several witnesses regarding the case. “For the next step, we are waiting for the actual autopsy results to determine the exact cause of the victim’s death,” he concluded.
