Cides: Invite foreign investors to develop agricultural sector
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Director of the Center for Information and Development Studies Umar Juoro said the government should endeavor in improving agricultural production to address the problem of the currently rising food prices.
"If necessary, foreign investors should be invited to improve the agricultural sector in the country especially in enhancing food resilience like what Brazil has done to invite investors to boost soybean production in that country," he told Antara here on Thursday.
According to him, by boosting production it will be easier for the government to control the increasing food prices. "Domestic production is easier to control."
He further said that dependence on food prices has caused losses to Indonesia which is also a food producing country.
"From the production point of view, we are very poor, thus causing dependence on imports to become high which will raise the prices causing us prone to high prices.(*)
