CIDA chairman visits Dili

DILI, East Timor: Chairman of the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA), Jorge Elizalde, is on a three-day visit to Dili for a project observation, Antara reported yesterday.

"Elizalde will observe the Canadian-funded clean water and dry soil agriculture projects in Ainaro and Ailiu regencies," said Marcelly of the provincial administration.

He said that Elizalde had earlier met provincial secretary Radja Karina Brahmana and head of the Wira Dharma Military Command Col. Suryo Prabowo.

In their meeting, Brahmana asked Elizalde to expand CIDA's assistance to include other regencies in East Timor.

"Almost all regencies in East Timor need clean water facilities. Although the government has already allocated funds for the purpose, the budget is still not enough," Marcelly said. (09)
