Bandung — The management of Cicaheum Type A Terminal in Bandung City, West Java, has assured that increases in intercity bus fares during the Eid holiday travel surge remain within reasonable limits and are being continuously monitored to avoid burdening passengers.

Asep Supriadi, Head of Cicaheum Type A Terminal in Bandung, explained on Sunday that additional fare increases, known as tuslah, are implemented by bus companies in response to rising passenger demand during the holiday season.

“There are typically fare increases during the Eid travel period, but so far the increases remain within reasonable limits,” he said.

He clarified that fare determination for intercity interstate bus transport (AKAP) is primarily the responsibility of bus operators (PO) and not the terminal.

He noted that bus fare increases during the holiday season are currently ranging around 20 per cent compared to normal days.

Nevertheless, the terminal continues to monitor intercity bus fares throughout the Eid holiday travel period to ensure increases are not excessive.

“We are continuously monitoring to prevent any fare increases that are too high or harmful to passengers,” he said.

According to monitoring by news sources at several ticket agencies, ticket prices for several routes from Bandung have increased. For instance, the Bandung-Solo route previously costing approximately Rp200,000 has risen to Rp250,000.

The Bandung-Surabaya route has experienced higher increases, rising from approximately Rp415,000 to Rp640,000, whilst the Bandung-Malang route has increased from Rp425,000 to Rp690,000 on this day.

However, Cicaheum Terminal management states it has not yet received any complaints or reports from the public regarding the bus ticket price increases.
